No snow has fallen in the northern province of Tucuman " in living history". Reported by the paper: Gaceta de Tucuman today. In an unusual turn of events a large Southern Ocean storm, creating a very large low pressure system, greater than the distance from Southern South America to Africa, pushed storm clouds up the side of the Andes and dropped snow; measured in feet and inches on the Province of Tucuman. Climate change is real.........the resulting air mass is now thought to be in the southern United States. What is unusual about this condition is that Northern and Southern storms in their respective hemispheres have never been thought to interact with each other directly. Now the concern is how will Southern Hemisphere winter storms, affect us in the Northern Hemisphere summer? Pushing science to the limits, nature to extremes has re-written science as we knew it.
In an article in: "What's Up With That?" Anthony Watts has documented NOAA data on departures from mean temperatures. NOAA'S Data is indicating at 55 degrees south latitude (Patagonia ) there has been an increase in temperature of up to 9 degrees. North of that ( towards the equator ) the departure from normal is down 12 degrees! (The reverse of what would be expected in a greenhouse warming!)
I postulate that the air circulation towards the equator, and the departures from normal there, are the result of global air mass circulation change. The implications are enormous in terms of radical weather and severe weather. The science simply is not there, the data is not available and everything in this field of science is about to look like a yard sale. I can see that we can apply the science we already know and incorporate into the field what we learn, the question is: can it be done in time to warn where danger will be?
